Roo picks a 5-card daily quest
Five short rounds, chosen for your child's age and level. Each takes 2 minutes. No endless scroll, no "one more level" trap.
Learn, teach back, earn
Your child solves with real objects and pictures, then explains it back to Roo. Earn XP, stars, streaks — and real understanding.
Four bands. One steady climb from 3 to 12.
Your child can always try the band above or below — bands are a starting point, not a wall.

We teach understanding — not tricks.
Understand, don't memorise
Every concept starts with real objects, then pictures, then symbols — the Singapore Maths "CPA" approach. Your child sees why it works.
Real-life maths
Euro coins at the shop. Cups of water in the kitchen. The clock on the kitchen wall. Maths your child actually uses — not word problems about trains.
Teach it back
If they can explain it to Roo, they've really got it. This simple habit turns fragile tricks into deep confidence — and you get to see the moment the penny drops.
Engagement that respects your child.
We learned from what apps like Instagram and TikTok do — and then we did the opposite of what's harmful. Keep the fun; lose the traps.

👨👩👧 Parent-controlled
Billing, teach-back confirmation, and profile deletion are all in the parent dashboard.
Built by a parent, for a 7-year-old.
I started Counteroo because I wanted a maths app that actually teaches — not one that rewards my son for guessing fast. The best maths programmes in the world (Singapore, UK EYFS, hands-on Montessori) already agree on what works: real objects, talk about your thinking, build up slowly, and make sure the child can explain what they've learned.
Counteroo is that, wrapped in a friendly mascot called Roo and sized for a busy family. If it helps your child feel confident and curious, it's doing its job.

Questions parents actually ask.
Is it really free for 30 days? Do I need a card?+
Yes. You can use every feature free for 30 days with no credit card and no commitment. After the trial you choose a plan — or don't. We simply pause access until you subscribe.
What ages is Counteroo designed for?+
Ages 3 to 12. We ask for date of birth when you create a child profile and place them into one of four bands: Sprout (3–5), Builder (5–7), Explorer (7–9), or Navigator (9–12). Your child can always try easier or harder content — content from adjacent bands is always available.
Will my child be able to use it alone?+
For Sprout and Builder (3–7), we recommend sitting alongside — the "teach Roo" step is best with a grown-up listening. For Explorer and Navigator (7–12), most sessions can be independent. Either way, the parent dashboard shows you what they've done.
How is this different from Khan Academy, Duolingo, IXL, or Prodigy?+
Counteroo is small, deep, and hands-on. We don't gamify endless drilling. Every concept is taught with real objects first, then symbols (Singapore Maths style), and your child explains each concept back to Roo to prove understanding. The daily quest is five bounded rounds — no infinite scroll.
What if my child is ahead or behind their age group?+
Bands are a starting point, not a cage. Your child can play content from the next or previous band at any time. Their global level and XP follow them across bands, so stretching never loses their progress.
How long per day should we spend?+
The daily quest is designed to take about 10–15 minutes. When it's done, Counteroo actively encourages your child to stop for the day — learning sticks better with breaks. There's no "just one more".
Is it safe? Is there any advertising?+
No ads, ever. No in-app purchases dressed up as gameplay. No data selling. We store only what's needed to teach: child's first name, date of birth, progress, and the parent's email. Hosting and email are EU-based; payments are via Stripe.
Can I have multiple children? How do I cancel?+
Yes — add as many learner profiles as you like on one parent account; each has their own progress, XP, and streak. You can cancel in one click via the Stripe customer portal from the Billing page — no emails, no hold-calls.
